Privacy Policy

BitzaHugs was created to support families with gentle tools, calming moments, and thoughtful caregiver encouragement.

Your privacy matters to us. This Privacy Policy explains what information BitzaHugs may collect, how it is used, and how we work to protect it.

1. Information We May Collect

BitzaHugs may allow you to enter information such as:

  • Child profile details, such as name, age, communication style, sensory preferences, and support needs
  • Routine information, such as daily tasks, schedules, and completed steps
  • Mood check-ins and emotional support selections
  • Journal entries or caregiver notes
  • Meltdown plan details or calming strategies
  • Support contact information that you choose to save
  • Community display name, posts, comments, reactions, and reports you submit
  • Account information, such as an email address, if you create an account
  • App preferences and progress information

2. How Information Is Used

BitzaHugs uses information you provide to:

  • Create and display visual routines
  • Save child profile preferences
  • Help guide mood check-ins and calming tools
  • Track progress, routines, badges, and reflections
  • Help caregivers access support tools during difficult moments
  • Operate and moderate the caregiver community
  • Improve the app experience over time

BitzaHugs does not sell your personal information.

3. Local App Data and Cloud Sync

BitzaHugs is designed to keep core app information private and simple. Some app data may be stored locally on your device so the app can remember your profiles, routines, preferences, and progress. If you create an account or use features such as the caregiver community, certain information is also stored in our secure cloud database (Firebase/Firestore) so those features can function across sessions and devices.

4. Hugi Chat and AI Features

BitzaHugs may include Hugi Chat, an optional AI-powered support companion designed to offer encouragement, calming suggestions, routine support, and simple next steps during overwhelming moments.

Hugi uses Anthropic’s Claude API to generate responses. When you use Hugi, the information you type into the chat and the response generated by Hugi may be processed by Anthropic in order to provide the feature.

BitzaHugs does not sell Hugi conversation data, does not use child or family information for advertising, and does not use Hugi conversations to train AI models. BitzaHugs does not save Hugi chat conversations to Firebase/Firestore or local app storage unless a future feature clearly states otherwise and gives users control.

Anthropic states that inputs and outputs from commercial products, including the Anthropic API, are not used to train its models by default. For the most current details about how Anthropic processes API data, please review Anthropic’s privacy information.

Because Hugi is powered by a third-party AI service, families should avoid entering unnecessary sensitive information, such as full names, addresses, school names, medical record details, insurance information, or other highly identifying information.

Hugi is not a medical, therapeutic, behavioral, crisis, legal, or emergency service. Hugi does not diagnose conditions, provide treatment, replace professional care, or respond to emergencies. If you or your child are in immediate danger or need urgent help, call emergency services or contact a qualified professional.

5. Community Features

BitzaHugs includes a moderated peer-support community for caregivers. Participation is optional. Before joining, you must agree to our Community Guidelines.

Display name and privacy. You participate under a chosen display name, not your real name. Anything you post — including posts, comments, and reactions — may be visible to other users of the community. Please do not share full names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, school names, medical details, or other identifying information about yourself, your child, or others.

Content moderation and your safety. To keep the community safe, BitzaHugs:

  • Screens posts and comments with an automated content filter before they are published;
  • Provides a report option on every post and comment;
  • Lets you block any user, which immediately hides their content from you;
  • Automatically hides content that receives multiple reports, pending review;
  • Allows moderators to hide, remove, or permanently delete content that violates our guidelines, and to suspend or remove users who repeatedly or seriously violate them.

We aim to review reported content within 24 hours. You may also report concerns directly to hello@bitzahugs.com.

Zero tolerance for objectionable content. Harassment, hate speech, graphic or sexual content, dangerous advice, and abusive behavior are not permitted and may result in removal from the community.

Data. Community posts, comments, reactions, and reports are stored in our database (Firebase/Firestore) to operate the community and enforce these safeguards. Reports are retained for moderation and safety purposes.

6. Children’s Privacy

BitzaHugs is designed for use by parents and caregivers. It is not intended for children to use without caregiver involvement. Caregivers are responsible for any child-related information they choose to enter. The caregiver community is intended for adults; users must not post identifying information about any child.

7. Third-Party Services

BitzaHugs may use trusted third-party services to help operate the app, website, waitlist, forms, analytics, payments, app store purchases, AI features, community features, or support tools.

These services may include, but are not limited to:

  • Firebase or Google services for app functionality, authentication, database features, or community tools
  • RevenueCat for subscription and entitlement management
  • Apple App Store and Google Play for app downloads and in-app purchases
  • Anthropic Claude API for Hugi AI support features
  • Formspree or similar services for website contact forms and waitlist submissions

These third-party services may process information as needed to provide their services. Their handling of information is governed by their own privacy policies and terms.

8. Payments and In-App Purchases

If BitzaHugs offers premium features or in-app purchases, payments may be processed through Apple, Google Play, or another approved payment provider. BitzaHugs does not directly store your full payment card information.

9. No Selling of Personal Information

BitzaHugs does not sell your personal information.

10. Data Security

We care about protecting your information and aim to use reasonable safeguards. However, no app, website, or online service can guarantee complete security.

11. Your Choices and Data Deletion

You may choose what information you enter into BitzaHugs. You may also delete information inside the app where available, or remove the app from your device.

You may delete your own posts and comments within the community at any time. You may also request deletion of your account and associated data — including community content — by contacting hello@bitzahugs.com. Reports submitted for safety and moderation purposes may be retained as needed to keep the community safe.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated as BitzaHugs grows, adds features, or changes how information is handled.

BitzaHugs is here to support calmer moments, not replace professional care. Please do not enter unnecessary sensitive medical, school, or identifying information into Hugi Chat or community spaces.
